TERMS OF SERVICE

1. DEFINITIONS

  • “Artist” refers to Ranyi.

  • “Client” refers to the individual or entity commissioning the artwork.

  • By completing payment, the client agrees to the terms outlined in this document.

2. PROJECT OVERVIEW

  • Listed prices are for personal-use commissions only unless otherwise specified.

  • The client is purchasing a digital illustration service, not a physical product.

  • Commercial usage, private usage, and extended licensing are handled separately under Section 9: USAGE & LICENSING.

3. CREATIVE DIRECTION

  • The pose, composition, and overall interpretation of the artwork are determined at the artist’s discretion unless otherwise agreed in writing before the commission begins.

  • The artist’s style is evolving and painterly in nature; slight variation from portfolio samples is expected and part of the process.

  • The artist may interpret references rather than replicate them exactly.

4. PRODUCTION WORKFLOW

  • This is a surprise-me commission workflow.

  • The artwork is completed under the artist’s full creative direction without intermediate approval stages or revision cycles during production.

  • Any feedback or change requests must be agreed upon before the commission begins.

  • Written status updates will always be provided for transparency and progress tracking purposes only. These updates are informational and do not constitute approval, revision, or modification opportunities.

  • The creative process is non-interactive during production. Client intervention is not part of the workflow once production has started.

5. REVISIONS (FINAL DELIVERY ONLY)

  • Upon completion and delivery of the final artwork, the client is entitled to revisions as outlined below:

Up to 3 minor revisions are included.
Additional revisions are chargeable based on complexity:

Small edits
(Minor adjustments such as color changes, small accessory additions, or light detail tweaks.)
→ $5-10Medium edits
(Moderate changes that affect small parts of the composition (e.g., adding or modifying small elements, minor design adjustments, or localized detail changes not affecting the overall pose or composition).
→ $10-20Major edits
(Significant changes such as pose adjustments, composition changes, new background, or substantial redraws affecting the overall structure of the artwork.)
→ 20-50% of total cost

  • If the artist has omitted key elements that were clearly indicated in the provided references or agreed requirements, corrections will be made at no additional cost within reasonable limits.

  • The client is responsible for clearly communicating which aspects of the character or design are essential and must be retained. Any unspecified details are subject to artistic interpretation under the artist’s style.

  • Style interpretation, rendering approach, and artistic simplification are not considered errors.

6. PAYMENT & QUEUE SYSTEM

  • All payments are processed via PayPal invoice/Wise.

  • Split payments (50/50 or installment plans) may be arranged by agreement. Work may pause until payment is completed.

  • A 20% waitlist fee is required to reserve a slot in the queue.

→ This fee is deducted from the final commission cost
→ It does not initiate active production
→ It is refundable only if no communication or updates are provided within 5 months of payment

  • Failure to complete payment may result in cancellation of the commission and forfeiture of reserved scheduling time.

7. REFUNDS & CANCELLATION

  • Refunds are not available once work has begun, except under the conditions below:

If the artist cancels before significant progress
→ full refundIf the artist cannot continue due to emergencies
→ client may choose refund or wait for completionIf the client becomes unresponsive for 30+ days
→ commission may be considered abandoned or completed at artist discretionClient-initiated cancellation requests may be accepted at the artist’s discretion and refunded proportionally based on completed work and reserved time.

8. DELIVERY & FILE RESPONSIBILITY

  • Final artwork is delivered digitally (email, Google Drive, or similar).

  • Clients are responsible for downloading and backing up files within 30 days of delivery. After this period, file retention is not guaranteed.

9. USAGE & LICENSING

  • Personal use includes non-commercial display such as icons, wallpapers, and personal social media.

Commercial use applies when the artwork is tied to:
→ branding
→ content creation
→ monetized platforms
→ promotional visibility

  • Commercial pricing varies based on scope, audience reach, and usage type.

  • Merchandise, print, and physical distribution require separate licensing.

Strictly prohibited uses:
→ AI training / datasets / AI tools
→ NFTs or blockchain usage
→ unauthorized resale or redistribution

  • The artist retains copyright unless otherwise agreed.

  • The artist reserves the right to publish commissioned work for portfolio and self-promotion unless a confidentiality agreement is made.

9.1 PRIVACY AND PUBLICATION OPTIONS

  • The artist retains the right to publish commissioned work for portfolio and self-promotion unless a confidentiality agreement is made prior to the start of the commission.

  • Clients may request publication restrictions under the following tiers:

Temporary non-publication
(delayed posting up to an agreed date):

(no publication for a defined period beyond 40 days or more):
→ +20-50% feeFull confidentiality
(no publication at any time / private commission):
→ +60-100% feeThese rates serve as a general guideline, as individual cases may vary. All final terms are subject to mutual agreement. Clients are encouraged to contact me in advance for clarification, especially for time-sensitive commissions.

10. CONFIDENTIALITY & PRIVACY

  • All communications, references, transaction details, and production materials are confidential unless otherwise agreed.

  • This includes screenshots, excerpts, summaries, and pricing discussions.

  • Unauthorized disclosure or misrepresentation may result in termination of usage rights and future commissions.

11. ARTIST RIGHTS

  • The artist reserves the right to:

→ Decline or cancel commissions at any stage
→ Make final creative decisions
→ Retouch or adjust final artwork for portfolio or presentation purposes (with notification)
→ Update these terms for future commissions

12. COMMUNICATION

  • Communication is conducted via email, X (Twitter), or Discord.
